Walk-in Vaccination Centres in Abu Dhabi for Students and Teachers

Walk-in Vaccination Centres in Abu Dhabi for Students and Teachers

As the new academic year is getting closer, a new initiative has been taken to facilitate a safe return of students and teachers. The authorities in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain have set-up walk-in vaccination centres in Abu Dhabi for students aged 12 and above along with the teachers and other administrative staff.

The vaccination centres have been chosen for this process in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek), Department of Health (DoH), Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC), and Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA). The dedicated centre for vaccination in Abu Dhabi is rolled up in the Green Hall at Mina Zayed Vaccination centre. Whereas, in Al Ain you can visit the Al Ain Convention Centre.

These vaccination centres are open until October 31st from 08:00am till 08:00pm. You do not need to take any appointment for visiting the centre, however, students below 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or a guardian in the vaccination centre.

The new dedicated vaccination centres as well as the other DoH approved vaccination centres offer first, second and booster doses of Pfizer-BioBTech and Sinopharm vaccines. The entire procedure to get vaccinated including the post-vaccination observation takes no more than 40 minutes per person.

The Undersecretary of Adek, Amer Al Hammadi stated that; “With students aged 16 and above requiring vaccination to return to face-to-face in-school learning for the new academic year, the new vaccination centers are designed to make the process as easy as possible and facilitate a smooth return to school for the entire education community. We encourage parents to continue playing their vital part and vaccinate their children.”

Nonetheless, students and other educational community members are advised to get their first vaccination dose at the earliest because of the required three-week window between both doses.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) have stated that students below the age of 15 do not need to be vaccinated in order to attend the in-school teaching. However, students above 16 and the administrative staff can only attend the in-school teaching after 28 days after the second dose of UAE-approved vaccine has been administered from any of the vaccination centres in Abu Dhabi.

Moreover, the students who have vaccination exemptions would be allowed to enter the school premises by providing the exception verified through their Al Hosn app. They can also provide an official letter from a DoH authorised vaccination provider like SEHA or Mubadala Health.
